Resolving to Make the House Organized and Purposeful
I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a problem with getting rid of “stuff” that isn’t being used. I do have some organizational struggles though, which are: 1) daily mail, receipts, papers, notes from school, magazines, etc., devouring my kitchen table; 2) Going through my son’s toys and clothes on a regular basis to keep the closet and play areas functional; and 3) Keeping the fridge and pantry from utter chaos.
Here are some ideas that can help you tackle your family’s resolution to get organized:
- Front door command center. By the front door have a command board and hook for all of the kid’s school “stuff”.
- Kitchen command center. Everyone has a folder so there are no more piles on the table.
- Clutter Jail. If the kids leave it out, it goes in the clutter jail and they have to draw a card out of the community chest and complete the task to get their stuff back. Teach the kiddos to be responsible for their own toys. Free printables!
- Pantry bins. Bins in the pantry with stuff for each meal…avoid overbuying at the grocery store!
- Baking supply labels
- Organizing Kid’s clothes they have outgrown.
- A lunch station in the pantry.
Happy organizing!
